How to Clone and Pull GitHub Repo

Let's understand how to clone a GitHub repository and pull updates from the repository into local system.

The following are the main steps:

Download git from https://git-scm.com/install/windows
Install Git by double clicking downloaded file - Git-2.53.0.2-64-bit.exe
Go to command prompt and check whether Git is installed using the following command:
```
git --version
```
Go to GitHub Repository that you want to clone to a local folder. For example: https://github.com/srikanthpragada/PYTHON_10_MAR_2026 is the GitHub Repo URL.
Note: The repository must be a public repo.
Select Code button and copy URL as shown in the following image.
Go to Command Prompt and give the following command to clone repository into the given directory. A new directory with the given name is created in the current directory. In the following command, directory name is mar10.
```
git clone https://github.com/srikanthpragada/PYTHON_10_MAR_2026.git mar10
```
Whenever you want to pull updates from GitHub repository, use the following command to pull updates from source repository into current directory (mar10). You must be in the directory that you used to clone the repository.
```
git pull
```
All the changes made to source repository since you last pulled will be downloaded into current folder.
